"The
Works is offering strategic support to Squashbox
Theatre because the company produces exceptionally
high-quality work which tours to areas of
Cornwall currently under-served by touring
theatre. Craig Johnson’s performance is
compelling to adults and children alike
and is wholly inclusive to children of all
abiities. His style is very interactive
and engenders high levels of participation
in his audiences." Sarah

I
am currently offering two shows for schools,
The Sea Show
and Skillywidden.
Details of both can be found below.
After
several years of touring theatre shows nationally,
I wanted to reconnect with Cornwall and
with my roots as a storyteller, puppeteer
and musician. My aims were to create high-quality
shows for children of primary school
age, and to promote the arts of puppetry
and storytelling through performance and
workshops
For
many children the experience of seeing a
live performance in their school is invaluable,
especially for those whose access to the
arts is limited. Squashbox Theatre gives
pupils a chance to see small-scale, intimate
performances that are thought-provoking,
informative, surprising and funny, and which
use traditional skills in an innovative
way.
I
want to show that the traditional arts of
puppetry and storytelling can have an exciting,
relevant and contemporary edge. I also want
to share these skills with teachers and
pupils during practical workshops
that can be tailored to each school’s needs.
